Why I Love (and Recommend) the Mares Ergo Dry Snorkel

  • 100% dry top snorkel design keeps water out when swimming through rolling waves or diving to the ocean floor. It makes it possible for you to concentrate on monitoring marine life and taking in the views, without repeated stops to make gear adjustments. Have a stress-free and comfortable snorkelling adventure, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced snorkeller!
  • The ergonomic mouthpiece decreases jaw fatigue and encourages a more natural bite and jaw position. This multi-functional design is ideal for all-day use and fits a variety of face shapes and sizes.
  • An integrated exhaust valve provides quick and simple clearing of any water that accidentally enters the snorkel, improving safety and hassle-free enjoyment while snorkelling. Usually all that’s needed to clear it out is a soft puff of breath!
  • The sliding swivel snorkel keeper secures to the mask with a snug fit. This gives you the ability to make quick adjustments and gives you great comfort and control while in use. Everyone’s comfort is different, and the sliding feature design allows for a universal fit for head size and placement of mask on the head.
  • Durable silicone construction and a flexible corrugated hose provide longevity, making this snorkel reliable for regular use in different underwater conditions. This snorkel has been travelling with us for 8 years in the bottom of my suit case and is still as good as the day I got it!
  • Match your snorkel with premium-quality equipment including a Mares X Vision Scuba Mask, fins or wet suit. This winning recipe will take your comfort, performance and snorkelling experience to the next level.

Features of the Mares Ergo Dry Snorkel

  • Ergonomically designed snorkel – perfectly fits the side of the head reducing neck strain
  • Flexible corrugated silicone hose section – designed to reduce drag
  • Universal moulded mouthpiece made from high-quality soft silicone – for greater wear and shock resistance, designed to hang down out of the way of a scuba divers regulator
  • Mares patented 100% dry top design – shuts off when you dive under the water stopping water from entering the tube so when you surface again, there is no excess water to be purged from the snorkel
  • An exhaust / purge valve in the mouthpiece – allows ease of blowing out any excess water rather than blowing it all the way up and out of the top
  • Low profile sliding swivel snorkel keeper – can be adjusted to many positions for any mask

How to Look After Your Mares Ergo Dry Snorkel

  • Wash thoroughly after every use in clean fresh warm water to prevent it from perishing
  • Do not use chemicals to clean
  • Do no leave in direct sunlight (store in a dark dry place) – this will prevent the silicone form turning a funny colour

Do I Recommend the Mares Ergo Dry Snorkel?

The design of the mouthpiece prevents discomfort, even on longer snorkel sessions and dives. The dry top design prevents unwanted entry of water from sea spray or splashes at the surface for an uninterrupted, dry breathing experience. If you do happen to get water into the snorkel, purging is quick and effective through the purge valve in the mouthpiece.

Personally, I chose the most colourful snorkel in their range (black tube with lime accents) as I wanted the most visibility in the water when snorkelling for safety reasons.

I love my Mares Ergo Dry Snorkel and highly recommend this snorkel to anyone out there looking to buy a snorkel of their own, whether for diving or snorkelling. I have used this snorkel for extended snorkelling sessions with no discomfort and optimal performance.  It has been used extensively on our full time travels since January 2018 and it shows no signs of wear or tear.
